My offer and food for thought for you:
There's so much going on these days, I find it hard to focus.
So I come back to what I know works for me, and that's writing, specifically journal writing.
This type of writing centers me. It allows me to talk to myself and therefore know myself better and most importantly writing helps me feel my feels and coach myself.
I use journal writing before I work on my novel as a way to bring myself into the process, and now I'm using journal writing at the start of my business day (just starting the habit!) as a way to remind myself why I'm doing what I'm doing, to give myself room and acknowledge the internal chaos.
What I'm finding is that journaling is helping me admit to myself how I'm feeling so that I can bring more compassion to the moment.
I didn't create the chaos out in the world and can't do anything about it. But the internal chaos? That I can organize, name, look in the face, and guide myself to a safe harbor.
The safe harbor for me is one where I remember that I am held by the ineffable, the life force, an unnamable all-that-is. (I'm not religious but I am spiritual.)
Also, in my journaling I can remind myself that the earth supports me.
The earth supports all of us.
I journal to remind myself that the sun brings us life and all our nourishment, and the air we breathe supports me (all of us) from moment to moment.
And journaling reminds me that I am held, you are held, we are all held by this pulsing life.
And that is a wonderful grand mystery.
I am in awe and that awe calms and centers me, so I can get on with my day.
