I shared about the 30-Day Challenge to Preparing Your Novel for Nanowrimo during Tuesday's webinar.

For those of you who sign up at the Dive In or All In level by Friday, August 29, 9pm Pacific, you'll get the special bonus of my Character Development video course, where I go in depth on 10+ elements of developing your characters.

Spotlight on an Author

One of the webinar attendees, a novelist who writes for middle grade readers, Courtenay Schurman, shared with me some of her takeaways from the webinar:

"...Connecting with other writers to get their input and suggestions come to mind immediately (since writing is by nature such a lonely endeavor). Nice group..."

(You all are a nice group!)

She continued:

"As far as content, my new mantra appears to be GOAL, MOTIVATION, CONFLICT. (Laughing) I think the most helpful tip I got from Tuesday’s webinar is to keep asking – repeatedly -- WHY your mc (main character) wants what he/she wants and in particular, what will happen if he / she doesn’t get it.

That will help me 1) develop each scene and sequel pairing in my MG manuscripts; 2) dig deeper into themes for my books and 3) help strengthen my plotting before I write. I look forward to diving in during the October class and seeing what unfolds in November during NaNoWriMo!"

So glad you'll be with us too during the October class too, Courtenay!

Ezra and I created this course so that you can prepare your novel for Nanowrimo in community and get input and suggestions from other writers.

Best,
Beth
