When I talk to writers, coaching clients, workshop students, or friends, one thing I hear over and over is:
"I want my writing to feel alive. But something about my setting just… falls flat."
I’ve felt that too. I used to write settings that were technically "fine," but they didn’t do anything.
They didn’t deepen the emotion.
They didn’t reveal character. They just filled space.
That’s why I created my new class:
Settings That Hook Your Readers
This class isn’t about adding more detail for the sake of detail.
It’s about using the setting as a living, active part of your story, a reflection of your character, tone, genre, and emotional arc.
We’ll work together live on Saturday, August 2nd (11am PT / 2pm ET), and you’ll walk away with:
✅ A clear lens to view your setting through your character’s emotional experience
✅ Revision tools that bring clarity and depth, without guesswork
✅ Framing strategies to control pacing, tone, and focus
✅ Guided exercises you’ll apply directly to your own story — in real time
This is a one-time, hands-on class I’m offering as part of the HEA Sessions 2025. (Yes, it will be recorded.)
A curated summer series created by Sue Brown-Moore to support fiction writers with heart.
Every class in the series is led by a passionate teacher and designed to help you reconnect with your creativity, build sustainable practices, and improve your craft.
I’m also offering an optional 3-week small-group cohort if you’d like personal feedback and support after the class.
If setting is something you’ve struggled with or you’re just ready to finally make it shine, I’d love for you to join me.

I created this for the kind of writer who cares. Who wants to do the work with intention. Who wants their stories to move people.
If that’s you, I hope to see you there.
Reminder: Registration closes tomorrow, Thursday, July 31st, at 10:50pm PT/11:50pm MT, so sign up now if you'd like to join us!
