Maybe you love your story. Maybe you hate it. Maybe you're just not sure.
Then now is a good time to join a critique group.
One of the biggest challenges in being a writer is to go from working on a piece all by yourself to sharing it with others.
Also, the biggest catalyst for growth: being in a room with other writers, talking about writing and working on improving your own work all the while learning how to articulate what works and what doesn't work in someone else's piece.
Writing groups are what got me from daydreaming about being a novelist to actually becoming one.
And I have been in one form of critique group or another since I dedicated myself to being a novelist over 25 years ago.
In fact, if I hadn't joined that first group, I would've never started.
It was only a group that gathered to write -- in person sprints.
It was the next group in which we critiqued each other's material that the learning really accelerated.
I know that there is a tremendous amount of magic and transformative power in working in a small group.
Why I'm excited to be offering this Next Step Critique Group, run by a smart and compassionate writer and teacher.
So that is my recommendation for this group that I offer and for Julia, the leader of this group -- an accomplished and published writer in her own right.
If you know that you are ready to step into this level of commitment and commit to your next step as a writer then apply by tonight. 9 PM Pacific/12 AM Eastern.
Or use this link: https://bethbarany.com/next-step-writers-group/
Julia let me know that there are still some spots left.
We're limiting this group to 12 people so that everyone can get the in-depth support they need.
If you have any questions, let me know!
Apply by today, Friday, Aug. 22, 9pm Pacific/ 12am Eastern.
