For 20 years now, we have been donating beads to the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital, offering patients a creative distraction. Additionally, for nearly two decades, we have been donating waxed cord to the 'Vereniging Ouders Kinderen Kanker' (Association of Parents of Children with Cancer), enabling children to create their own 'Kanjerketting' (Bravery Bead Necklace) using the beads they receive during their treatment. We are proud to have found a third charity to support. Sintvoorieder1 (Sintforevery1) is an inspiring non-profit organization dedicated to helping children from families living below the poverty line. In the Netherlands, 'Sinterklaas' is a beloved annual holiday celebrated on December 5, when children traditionally receive gifts and treats from Saint Nicholas. For many families, this is one of the highlights of the year. Unfortunately, for children growing up in financial hardship, receiving Saint Nicholas gifts is not always possible. Sintvoorieder1 makes sure these children can experience the joy and magic of Saint Nicholas as well, providing them with gifts so they, too, can celebrate this special tradition. Last month, they collected two pallets filled with beads and components, which they can use to create gifts or assemble craft kits. |
