Very Important Announcement Dear Members and Friends: Please be aware that we are entering our Ballot Access drive starting Wednesday, March 10th and we have some very important information to share with you. Remember, we have six candidates that need your help to get on the ballot this election cycle. There are a few important items that you need to be made aware of and I hope this notice serves as a reminder: To participate in our upcoming State Convention as a delegate, you can not vote in any other political parties primary on March 2! To sign our ballot access petition, you can not vote in another political parties primary on March 2! To vote at our State Convention June 12, you must be a delegate from your district. You can become a delegate by holding a local precinct convention and then holding a district convention. We hold our precinct conventions on March 9! VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Texas Election law declares that when you vote in a primary, you legally have joined that party for the rest of the election year cycle so please DO NOT vote in the big box parties primaries on Tuesday March 2 if you plan to sign our petition or if you plan to become a delegate to our 2010 State Convention! As a reminder: If you vote in a primary you are ineligible to sign our petition and you are ineligible to be a delegate to our 2010 State Convention! I hope you can see the importance of not voting in some other political parties primary in early March. We know all these rules can be confusing, but remember, we didn’t make them! You can thank the Texas legislature for all the rules. The process really is simple but extremely important. The bottom lineis that if you want to vote at our 2010 State Convention you must be a delegate. Here is the process: No Later Than February 26th : Post Notices of Precinct and County Conventions March 9th: Precinct Conventions at 7 p.m. ­ Elect Delegates to County Convention March 10th: Petitioning For Ballot Access Begins! March 13th: County Conventions ­ Elect Delegates to State Convention May 19th: All Petition Forms Returned By This Date For Processing Filing May 24th: Deadline For Filing Petitions With Secretary of State June 12th: State Convention ­ Washington on the Brazos To help everyone understand the process of holding precinct and district conventions, we have prepared a convention packet for your convenience.
