[CPTexas] CP Newsletter March 2017

March 27th, 2017 at 4:36 pm CDT

Dear Members and Friends of the Constitution:

Good News and Bad News.  The bad news is that most Republicans, true to form, have already lost the sense of urgency they had last year during the election — have you noticed that they are not only going back to their comfort zone of complacency, but some are happy to embrace Big Brother, as long as he is a Republican!  This is a dangerous trend.

The good news is that Mr. Trump is already supplying the rope to hang himself with true conservatives and liberty-minded patriots.  He is moving fast, and some of the things he has done are good, but as we've said all along, he is a Populist, which means he is guided only by what he thinks the voters want, rather than by constitutional principles.  The best example so far is his shift to reforming Obamacare instead of repealing it. And that means a lot of Republican voters are getting nervous, and wondering whether they are in the right party at all.  Most of them think they have no real alternative.  That's the task before us.  To become that alternative, we must each accept the clear duty before us — starting with recruiting at least one new member — each month if possible!

More good news — we have just added two new Regional Chairmen to the Executive Committee.  Joining Scott Copeland (Weatherford and the North Central Texas Region) are Gary Blake (Houston and Coastal Bend Region) and John Quigley (Bracketville and the Rio Grande District).  Those of you in their districts now have some leadership that can get to your meetings locally!

More good news — we have just added Christy Mowrey (Collin County) as Spokesperson for the Constitution Party of Texas!

And more good news — Tony Grant (Ft. Worth) has agreed to serve as Treasurer, picking up the baton from Bob Eoff, who has held that office, and several others, for many years.  A huge thanks to Bob, as well as to Tony.

AND we have more new leadership standing in the wings, about to be coming on board in June!

We have also joined a coalition of third-parties in Texas to push for legislation making ballot access easier.  They have a bill pending in the Texas legislature, and they are already considering a lawsuit — and they have both the attorneys and the money to pursue that, so we're keeping a close eye on that.

There are several things you can do right now to help restore constitutional government in Texas:

  1. Renew your membership today, and
  2. Recruit ONE new member to do the same.  It may not seem like much to you, but to us it means the difference in surviving vs. thriving as a party.  You can find an application form at www.CPTexas.us/join.
  3. If you can make a one-time donation to the Texas Party, this is a good month to do it.  We are expected to send money from each state to help pay for the national office staff, and right now we cannot do it unless you help.  Your cheque for $1,000 would mean a LOT to both Texas and to National.  (c:  But, of course, we'll take whatever you can afford.  Please, do NOT take out a second mortgage on your home, but if you're in a position to send even a little, it will make a difference.  (If you make a donation of  $250 or more, we will give you a membership in the Howard Phillips Legacy Society!!  This will bring you a monthly VICTORY REPORT from the national office.  Or, you can call 1-800-2-VETO-IRS and subscribe direct, at whatever level you want to support.)
  4. Attend a monthly meeting in your county — starting this month.  If there are only two of you, get together for coffee.  Let's get the habit going of meeting monthly — it's not like there's nothing to discuss.  You have members to recruit, candidates to cultivate, and officers to elect — it won't happen until you make it happen!  (And then let us know you did it — this helps and encourages others.)
  5. We are looking for candidates to run for office in 2018.  If you, or someone you know, is interested in running as an INDEPENDENT, even while we pursue ballot access, we need to hear from you — no later than the state conference coming up soon in Belton, in June.

YOU ARE INVITED to attend the 2017 State Conference!
June 10
Summers Mill Conference Center
Belton, Texas

First confirmed speaker is Brett Rogers (Galveston County), who will show us how a poor party can finance a high-powered campaign.  He's a great speaker — worth the drive!  And more to come.

Details and registration are now posted on the website — if you're not getting those updates, please sign up now at http://cptexas.us/home/events.

I've ordered my tickets to make sure it's working, and now you can too!

There will be an Executive Committee meeting on June 9, the evening before.

If you plan to arrive on the evening of the 9th, there are still a few rooms available at the center, and you can book them yourself by calling Summers Mill Conference Center at 254-939-6194.  And if they're booked up, there are lots of rooms at local motels in Belton, just a few miles away.

For a Constitutional Republic, under God, once again,
