[CP Texas] Update from the Chairman

August 7th, 2013 at 8:10 pm CDT

Constitution Party members and supporters:

It’s looking like a hot summer and time for an update from the Chairman.

You can take your pick of recent scandals.  NSA spying, IRS targeting conservative groups, use of Drones, Fast and Furious, or the Benghazi attack – which is still unfolding.

All are considered “phony” by the administration. Republicans appear to be doing little to investigate and in fact, voted to keep blanket NSA spying in place!

Promotion of our party and voluntary dues and contributions are much appreciated.  We update our website frequently with articles from writers so please tell others about us and visit www.cptexas.us and our Facebook page.

Naturally, our National party tends to focus on National races.  However, everyone understands success requires participation at the State and local level.  Our party founder, Howard Phillips died in April and we will miss him dearly.  But Howard often repeated the phrase, “All politics are local”.

Our state leadership is recommending we focus on building county organizations and encourage members to run for non-partisan races such as school board and city council races and build the party in home group settings as well as promote the party via gun shows, county fairs, flea markets, social media and emails to like minded friends.

We are not discouraging nor giving up on more prominent races – statewide or national - if viable candidates can be recruited.  But finances are needed along with adequate members to promote such races.  I recently talked to two men considering a run for Texas Governor.  Hopefully other party members will consider running for office.  However, candidates considering statewide or national race will need to lead the charge for ballot access.  If momentum for one or more candidates builds, I believe party members - and folks on the sidelines - will step up to help our noble cause.

While a Ballot Access drive seems futile, this effort serves as a means to expose and promote the party.  In Texas, it takes over 50,000 valid signatures from registered voters who do not vote in the primaries to attain ballot access.  This is virtually an insurmountable feat without hundreds or thousands of volunteers to gather signatures and/or a lot of money.

The bottom line is that if you want an alternative to the two socialist parties, you are going to have to help us build an organization.  Many hands make light work.

Those who think the problem of socialism will be solved by voting for the lesser of two socialists are not only misguided, they are the problem.
