[CP Texas] Important Information

February 28th, 2014 at 12:19 am CDT

Constitution Party members, friends and supporters:

Last summer the Texas Legislature amended the Election Code and changed several critical dates and timelines affecting our party.  I know the hour is late but I ask for your immediate attention. We are in a time crunch.

We have candidates who filed for office under our party name and we now have an opportunity to advance our party and our mission.

Please review all attached forms and instructions you need to conduct your local and area conventions this year.  And please check the dates on the attached calendar to be sure you do not miss any deadlines!

In order to comply with the Texas Election Code, notices of precinct conventions must be posted with County Clerks tomorrow, February 28.

Our State Convention will be on Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Haltom City, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth.  More details will be available on our website soon.  We plan to accommodate as many party members and guests as possible, but in order to participate and vote on party business at the convention you must conduct or attend a precinct and/or county convention in your area to be elected as a delegate to the State Convention.

Don’t be intimidated by this process.  It can be as simple or elaborate as you make it as long as it meets requirements of the Election Code, so pay careful attention to all requirements. When in doubt, ASK!

Do be careful to assure only one meeting is held in each precinct or county.  Precinct meetings for all precincts in your county may be held at one location but need to be posted and coordinated with all members in the same county.

If you are unsure of precinct boundaries, check with your local officials.  Some boundaries have changed due to redrawn maps.  It will be helpful to us if you let us know if you or others in your county plan to hold precinct conventions on Tuesday, March 11.

If you do not conduct or attend a Precinct Convention on March 11 it may be possible to “catch up” by attending a County Convention March 15.   However, a majority of the duly qualified delegates at a County Convention must waive the requirement for failure of participation at precinct conventions – a formality that can be forgiven.

All attendees will be required to take the Oath of Affiliation to participate in the convention process.  As a reminder, anyone who votes in the primaries are prohibited by Texas law from voting or participating in the affairs of another political party.

We will do our best to help coordinate county conventions so party members can connect with others.  If you do not know who your county Chairman is please contact me at chairman@cptexas.us.

If there is no County Chairman or coordinator in your area and you would like to serve as contact person for convention purposes, please let me know immediately.  You would then be responsible for posting and holding a precinct convention on March 11 and a county convention on March 15.

For those who have never collected signatures for our ballot access drives, this task can be confusing, intimidating and frustrating, but also rewarding.  We need at least 50,000 valid signatures from registered voters - but who do not vote in the primaries.  Please watch for a separate email on this subject to address this task.  We need volunteers to collect signatures and advance our cause.

Our party consists of volunteers dedicated to the cause of restoring our republic to our biblical roots..  Dues have always been voluntary but much appreciated.  Please refer your like minded friends to our main website at www.cptexas.us or our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ConstitutionPartyofTexas.

I thank you for your interest in helping build our party and greater cause. We look forward to seeing you in Haltom City on April 12.

For God, family and country,

Bob Eoff
