[CP Texas] I Wish You a Happy Thanksgiving

November 25th, 2015 at 9:01 pm CDT

The opening line of the first Thanksgiving Day proclamation issued by George Washington reads,

“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour ...”

The Preamble to the Constitution Party platform states,

“This great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions but on a foundation of Christian principles and values. For this very reason peoples of all faiths have been and are afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.”

Those two declarations set us far apart from the Democrats and the Republicans. Neither establishment party or the secular elitists who manipulate them would dare acknowledge that our great Republic was founded by godly men. Their candidates, campaign rhetoric, and party platforms are carefully designed to appeal to special interests and powerful insiders, and the issues they promote  are not based on the Founding Father’s vision of America.

Our party is different. We rely on the specifics of the Constitution, and acknowledge that our political actions every stand and step we take are guided by faith in God.

At this very special time of the year, I want to share this one thought ... actually, an observation from a December 11, 1783 Thanksgiving sermon by the Reverend Joseph Willard given in Boston:

"Freedom! How pleasing is thy name, how grateful to those who have so long been struggling in thy cause! The inhabitants of the United States, who not long since, were ingloriously dependent upon another power, have now the direction of their own affairs; and from that true spirit of liberty, which so eminently distinguishes them, we have everything to hope. Methinks, I see the firmest and most distinguished Patriots, and the wisest and most just Legislators, in long succession, blessing the land."

The Constitution Party sees a people and their legislators living in the land of liberty too . We know that will come from a long and hard political battle fought by patriots, but we have faith in God and the secure hope of wise governance as outlined in the Constitution.

I wish you a happy Thanksgiving one filled with the joy of gathering with friends of family as well as an appreciation of the sacrifices the Founders made to set a high standard of liberty.

Sincerely

Frank Fluckiger
National Chairman
