Subject: You're not supposed to

Why life shouldn't always feel or be easy (and hard is actually the norm - which is a good thing!).

Success Without Sacrifice

N E W S L E T T E R

Anti-hustle strategies for lawyers who want more control, impact, and life.

You’re not supposed to enjoy every moment. You aren’t meant to always feel happy. And stress is a natural part of living.

In fact, you need to feel all the “negative” stuff, including:

Lack of confidence.

Stress.

Overwhelm.

Fear

Impostor syndrome.

Doubt.

Worry.

And so on.

[These “negative” feelings and experiences aren’t bugs. They’re features… If you adopt the right mentality.]

This is something that bothers me about the time we live in (and frankly, a lot of the messaging coming from life/career coaches).

The goal is to be happy, make things easier, and not feel discomfort. So, we all do the things that are supposed to make us happier, make things feel easier, and reduce discomfort.

And we wonder why so many people seem to be searching for more.

More meaning.

More fulfillment.

Purpose.

HARD TRUTH:

Hard is where purpose comes from.

Doing hard things and experiencing difficulties are part of what creates meaning, purpose, and fulfillment.

Anything worthwhile is work. Hard work.

Yet it's still worthwhile.

This is true regardless of whether we're talking about marriage, saying "yes" to a big case/deal, a big promotion, or even having kids.

There are plenty of reasons why NOT to choose these things. But make sure you're choosing for the right reasons.

Discomfort creates growth. Challenges build character. Hard things forge who you become.

And regardless of whether you strive to make things less hard, it’s still going to be hard. Because that’s life.

My point?

Make sure your hard is actually meaningful, Friend.

Heather
