Early in my legal career, I had (what I thought was) an audacious goal:
Become a leader within a large law firm.
Years later, I was told that I was on a short list of lawyers being considered for the managing partner role of our Dallas office.
To which I said “Take me off the list.”
Why the change of heart? What had happened?
Well…
Kids. Cancer. And lots of life.
Life experiences change you (and your goals). Different seasons bring forth different priorities. Yet most of us rarely revisit our big, audacious goals.
I’m here to remind you to check in often. Check in with your values and how you currently define them. Check in with what’s most important in this season of life. Check in with your bigger vision and goals for your career and life.
Barrelling blindly toward goals you might have wanted in the past is how most people end up successful on paper, but unhappy in life.
Don’t let that happen to you, Friend.
