Seeking Professionals Providing SUD and MH Services for CoE-PHI Focus Group

The Center of Excellence for Protected Health Information needs you and your expertise! Please apply to join our focus group and share your thoughts on resource needs and approaches for how to obtain consent for sharing patient treatment information.

Who should attend these focus groups?

Professionals who provide Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or mental health treatment services and have experience obtaining patient consent to share SUD and/or mental health treatment information, in practice, regardless of the treatment setting.

What will be discussed?

During the focus groups we want to hear your perspectives about:


  • How to approach talking to clients about concepts of privacy and confidentiality

  • Challenges associated with talking to clients about concepts of privacy and confidentiality


Your participation will contribute to our growing understanding of the skills required to obtain consent to share treatment information in a way that is helpful to the patients that you serve.


How long is the focus group?

Focus groups will run for approximately 2 hours.

Funded by SAMHSA, the CoE-PHI develops and disseminates resources, training, and TA for states, healthcare providers, school administrators and individuals and families to improve understanding and application of federal privacy laws and regulations, including FERPA, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2, when providing and receiving treatment for SUD and mental illness.
