Who should attend? Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Service Providers and Administrators Working with Tribal and Urban Indian Populations

Details: The Center of Excellence for Protected Health Information (CoE-PHI) and the Indian Health Service will host this two part virtual training series which will include an overview of federal privacy laws (including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2) as they relate to the provision of Substance Use Disorder treatment at organizations that serve tribal and Urban Indian communities, with time built in for Q & A. In addition, participants will be introduced to the tip sheets and technical assistance services provided by the CoE-PHI.

Webinar Goal: Increase knowledge and awareness of the federal privacy laws (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, and the CARES Act) and how they impact care provision and sharing of information to improve coordination of care and treatment outcomes.  

Funded by SAMHSA, the CoE-PHI develops and disseminates resources, training, and TA for states, healthcare providers, school administrators and individuals and families to improve understanding and application of federal privacy laws and regulations, including FERPA, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2, when providing and receiving treatment for SUD and mental illness.
