CoE-PHI eLearning Module Available Now: Federal Privacy Regulations When Providing SUD and Mental Health Services
Privacy is key to recovery. It’s also the law. Get the facts about patient privacy and Protected Health Information.
The Center of Excellence for Protected Health Information (CoE-PHI) is happy to share our new eLearning Module: Federal Privacy Regulations When Providing SUD and Mental Health Services.

This module, as well as others that will follow in the coming months:
  • Provides you with 24/7 access to the information and training you need to understand and implement privacy regulations on the job

  • Can be used by organizations to support their new-employee orientation process and annual staff competency trainings

  • Offers an option to receive a course certificate upon successful completion of knowledge checks that can serve as evidence of course completion

  • Can be completed in 15-25 minutes making it easy to fit into a typical workday
Our first module is designed to provide an introduction to the federal privacy laws that protect substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health (MH) information. This includes the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the SUD privacy law (42 CFR Part 2, known as “Part 2”), and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. To create an account, choose “Center of Excellence for Protected Health Information” from the dropdown list of programs.

2. Create your account and confirm it (if any issues arise in creating an account, please contact the LMS helpdesk.)

3. Once your account is set up, you can click on module link, it will take you directly to the module after providing your login credentials.
