Featured Tournament: FBU National Championship

The Football University National Championship is the premier youth football event in the country. Taking place in Naples,Florida 64 teams from all over the United States, representing their State/Region, battle in a single elimination tournament to see who is National Champion. There are three divisions, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade all which all compete throughout the month of December to be crowned National Champion. Over 6,000 athletes representing thousands of youth leagues participate in the Championship. NSID is proud to work with FBU ensuring the integrity of the event. FBU is a prime example of the benefits NSID can bring to your event. This year more than half the teams in attendance did not have to fly in a day early and spend extra money on flights and hotels in order to get there teams checked in. Additionally the FBU tournament was able to save money on labor costs by not having to have their staff spend hours reviewing paper documents. FBU is using NSID the best way possible and we could not be happier to partner with such a prestigious organization.

The world of youth sports has changed drastically over the last decade. Young athletes no longer spend the year playing multiple sports. Instead they choose one sport to specialize in and play only that sport all year long. The idea behind this is that an increased focus on a single sport will lead to better performance by the athlete. The reality is early sport specialization does more to hurt the athlete in the long term then help them. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAC) has issued a report that says children are getting injured as well as burned out from specializing in a single sport. Overuse and burnout have become very common amongst young athletes today. The fact of the matter is athletes who play more than one sport are more likely to become elite level athletes. In this past weekends super bowl 96% of players on both teams were multi sport athletes in high school.
