Blue Chips Sports is another fast and growing youth basketball organization. The Battle of Magic City Showdown is one of the top tournament in the country. The Blue Chips, led by Bronny James, are one of the best teams in the nation, recently winning the USBA National Tournament.  We are expecting to see some of the top talent in the county at this event and of course we hope Lebron James will be in attendance. We are very proud to work with North Coast Blue Chips and this is another sign that the top youth sports organizations are all moving toward NSID for online player age verification. Not only do we verify all the ages and grades of the athletes but we take all the work of checking player documents and completing rosters for the events we partner with.

Hot Topic: Ten Benefits of Youth Sports
There is so many different benefits in youth sports today.  One of the main benefits it has is it allows participants to become more social through interacting with their peers in a fun, enjoyable environment. Believe it or not youth sports can benefit parents as well.  With Your child in youth sports, it allows you as a parent to communicate and interact with other parents on the sidelines, whether it be at practice or during a game.  This leads to things such as carpools, invitations to family outings, and in the long run a greater bond and friendship between your child and his/her teammate. Another great benefit of having your child in youth sports is finding a great mentor in coaches.  Having a number of good role models is important for growing children, so having them play a sport with a motivational but helpful and kindly coach can be advantageous.  The focus of youth sports is supposed to be on learning the game, gaining friends and making lasting relationships that will later help you in life. Check out this article form the NSID Youth Sports Blog to read more about 10 benefits in youth sports.

Playing Favorites in Youth Sports
When a parent notices their child not getting much playing time in youth sports, they will often try to figure out why that is. Did their child miss practice? Was their child mouthing off to the coach? Did they, the parent, do something wrong? These are all valid concerns, all of which could be true. However, the most common reason is that a coach wants to ensure that his or her team wins. Although youth sports are supposed to be a learning experience for all involved, there are so many coaches that will do anything in their power to win. By wanting to win at all cost, a coach might start to play favorites. Meaning, they are not taking the starters out of even if it is a blow out. Although this problem in youth sports is rather frustrating, it can be easily resolved. Parents if you see or think a coach might be playing favorites, calmly talk to the coach after a practice and ask politely whether the players are not being favored can see some playing time. There is a few more reasons why a coach might play favorites, see more in the link below.
