There’s an area in northwest Illinois that has a cluster of small schools. (175-300 students in grades 9-12) This is the mecca of small school football in Illinois. They play physical, hard nosed, beat you up football. Spread coaches would rather go play golf than to face these guys. One of those schools, Forreston HS led by head coach Kenyon Janicke, has won the 1A state championship in Illinois 3 times in the last 9 years and also made the semifinals twice in that same time period.
