Hi ,

I'm happy to tell you that the first content on blogging is in draft form and will hit RMSEO next week. It will include some worksheets, checklists and instructions on using and getting the most from your blog. I'll notify you as soon as it's available.

While I'm talking about blogging, I started a blog a while back in collaboration with a few other people. Check out Strategy Healthcare when you have a chance. There are several things that are being done correctly on this blog that I'll use as examples in the content at the membership site.

Strategy Healthcare features the writing of the author, Dr. Gene Lindsey, a prominent figure in healthcare. The Managing Editor is Peter Kriff, editor Robyn Warhol, Social Media Manager Cecily Hill and yours truly as the techie pain in the butt.
You have all been through the branding process during site development so I know that you know who you are. So, there is really only one thing that I would ask you to focus on until the material is released. Who is your audience?

Do you really know who they are because you'll be speaking to them in your blogs. Do you know there age range? The things they like and dislike? The problems they face that you can solve for them? These are all things that are most important for you to effectively speak to them to get subscribers and customers.

I'll share a short story from personal experience.

I was scheduled to give a presentation to the Board of Directors of Ocean Spray. My mission for the company that I was working for was to persuade them to authorize the President to spend R&D money for the development of a dry harvesting cranberry machine. I new I had pressure on my side because the EPA was cracking down on wet harvesting cranberries due to contamination of the water table in the Martha's Vineyard area of Massachusetts. I thought to myself, "Hmmm, this will be a cake walk. How can I fail?"

I was more nervous about my appearance than anything else. I even remember consulting my copy of 'Dress for Success', "Did I have the right tie? Red is a power color right?" So I donned my red Jerry Garcia tie. "Oh, my shoes that I never pay attention to!", I thought. I shined them like never before. "Does this suite fit right? I better get a tailored suite, a haircut...etc., etc. I'm ready! " I looked like a Park Avenue attorney.

Off I went to the meeting to give my presentation. I entered the board room and...
was standing in front of a room full of farmers in dirty jeans hip boots and well they might have been chewing weeds. You see Ocean Spray is a farmers cooperative, so the entire board of directors are farmers. Not what you'd expect from a more traditional board of directors.

Well I ended up closing the deal with Northland Cranberry but I had learned my lesson. Don't assume that you know your audience until you've checked who they are. Know them demographically and psycho graphically.

I will show you how to do that on the internet at RMSEO, right after I add the "How to Blog", content.

Hope your off to an amazing weekend,

Russ
