Scheduling Update

Due to technical difficulties, we have pushed the release date of AFIRE to Friday, August 18.

10th Anniversary screening of this narrative short film presented by the filmmakers. Join director Chris Holmes for a talkback after the film — All proceeds go to support Cinemapolis!

A glimpse into the life of a terrible but successful artist, through the eyes of his girlfriend/muse; his arch-nemesis; a terrifying critic; his loyal assistant who actually does all the work; a professor who spouts endless postmodern jargon; and a young woman who only speaks in '80's pop lyrics—in Korean.

FREE DOCUMENTARY SCREENING SUNDAY, AUGUST 13, 1:00 PM!

Sunlit Residency honors the legacy of anthropologist Dr. Sue-Je Lee Gage, pioneering scholar of Amerasians in South Korea, change-maker, beloved teacher, and mentor whose talents and interests spanned the fine arts, the humanities, and the social sciences.

ISLAND SOLDIER is a feature documentary that interweaves the personal stories of Micronesian soldiers serving in the US military and the experience of their families back home in the islands. Through the personal odyssey of the Nenas, one family experiences the consequences of military service, as they represent a pristine Pacific island on the brink of economic collapse.

Join us for a talkback with filmmaker Nathan Fitch after the film!

Ben, a struggling filmmaker, lives in Berkeley, California, with his girlfriend, Miko, who works for a local Asian American film festival. When he's not managing an arthouse movie theater as his day job, Ben spends his time obsessing over unavailable blonde women, watching Criterion Collection DVDs, and eating in diners with his best friend Alice, a queer grad student with a serial dating habit. When Miko moves to New York for an internship, Ben is left to his own devices, and begins to explore what he thinks he might want.
