Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
Before getting into all the great reasons you should come to the movies this weekend, I want to quickly address the questions we're all asking about health and safety in our community and in our cinema. Given the national headlines and local fears regarding the novel corona virus (a/k/a Covid-19), I wanted to assure all our Cinemapolitans that we're taking steps to help ensure the health and safety our patrons and staff. Those steps and recommendations for patrons are available on our website here. With equal doses of caution and common sense, together we can make sure that movie-going remains an engaging respite from all that ails us!

As for movies, we have THREE great new titles arriving on Friday:
  • From Benh Zeitlin, the talented mind behind Beasts of the Southern Wild, comes Wendy, a fresh take on the world of Neverland and the Lost Boys. Steve Pond of The Wrap calls it "a film that is magical and messy, unruly and otherworldly."

  • Nominated for an Academy Award, Corpus Christi was Poland's official entry in the International Feature category. Leslie Felperin of the Guardian says, "moving but also disquieting and even intermittently funny, this drama unfurls a spiritual parable that is uniquely Polish but accessible to all."

  • After a year of racking up wins on the film festival circuit, Swallow arrives for a special limited engagement. Haley Bennett stars in a break-out role in this dark, horror-leaning drama about an expectant mother who develops a dangerous new obsession. Lena Wilson of the Playlist calls it, simply,  "A staggering accomplishment in its storytelling, visuals, and performance."
In addition to community rental events this week (including the Streets Alive Film Fest TONIGHT, an Ithaca Palestine Film series screening tomorrow, and a Friends of Stewart Park event on Thursday), you can look forward to other special events this weekend:

The Family Classics Picture Show introduces the magic of cinema to parents and kids with a year-long series of 10 fun and affordable Sunday matinees.

The series is made possible by lead sponsor The Ainslie Reilly Group at Morgan Stanley, with additional support from Mama Goose.
While you're planning your next week at the movies, be sure to get in soon to catch Greed, Ordinary Love, and the Oscar Short Animation program.   They all have their last screenings THIS Thursday, March 12th.
 See you at the movies!
