Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
As the days tick away til our “And the Winner Is...” Awards Night Party (tickets now on sale!), we add three new titles to the mix this Friday:

  • Alfre Woodard stars as death-row prison warden in the Sundance award winner, Clemency. David Rooney of the Hollywood Reporter says, “it's the humanity and compassion invested across all the principal characters that makes this contemplative examination of the terrible weight of taking a life so commanding.”
  • Tim Roth and Clive Owen star in The Song of Names, a mystery based on the award-winning 2002 novel. Gary Goldstein of the LA Times calls it “a profound, affecting and beautifully told chronicle of faith, family, obsession and the language of music.”
  • Genre director Richard Stanley makes a triumphant return to the screen with the psychelic Lovecraft adaptation, Color Out of Space. Jake Cole of Slant says it’s a “vivid depiction of how a confrontation with the unknown can so easily shatter the fragile bonds that hold us together.”
A handful of additional special reasons to head to the movies are on the way as well:

Can’t wait til Friday for the premiere of the latest wild and wooly performance from Nicolas Cage? Ithaca Fantastik has you covered, as they host a special SNEAK PREVIEW screening of Color Out of Space on Wednesday night at 7 pm.
ADDED BONUS: the screening will feature a recently filmed Q & A with Cage and director Richard Stanley!
Tickets now on sale!

We're SO excited to partner with Ithaca Fantastik to bring The Saturday Morning All-You-Can-Eat-Cereal Cartoon Party to Ithaca! Curated by  Kier-La Janisse, it’s a 2-hour trip down memory lane with a tribute to the eye-popping, brain-addling Saturday morning cartoons of yore, complete with a smorgasbord of delicious sugary cereals (and yes, we have non-dairy too!)
AND, to celebrate National Peanut Butter Day (a day late) we’ll follow the toons with a special a screening of mondo bizzaro 80s kids flick, The Peanut Butter Solution.

Ithaca College’s Center for LGBT Education, Outreach & Services and Planned Parenthood’s Out For Health: LGBT Health & Wellness program have partnered with Cinemapolis for the 2nd Annual Transuary Film Series. The two film event will feature screenings of award winning films that highlight some of the issues facing transgender people in the 21st Century. Each screening will be accompanied by discussions, information, and additional local resources for transgender services and support in the community.
Admission for each of these special sponsored
screenings is just $ 5.
 See you at the movies!
