Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
We head toward the Independence Day holiday with TWO new films opening on Friday:
  • Director Brett Haley (I'll See You In My Dreams, The Hero) returns to our screens with the "Certified Fresh" music comedy, Hearts Beat Loud. Nick Offerman and Kiersey Clemons star as a father and daughter each facing major life changes—the impending closure of his record store and the beginning of her college career. That's all put on hold, however, when they unexpectedly find indie-rock success after one of their family jam sessions goes viral.  Ryan Scott of MovieWeb calls it "the feel good movie we need right now."

  • Australian documentarian Jennifer Peedom trots the globe capturing some of the world's most photogenic peaks in the exhilarating Mountain. Featuring a thrilling score by the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the film delves into the motivations of the alternately brave and foolhardy humans who scale, bike down, and leap from the titular summits. Narration by Willem Dafoe adds to the gravity. Harry Windsor of the Hollywood Reporter calls it a "ravishing feat of vertiginous filmmaking."
While planning your next week at the movies, get in here soon to catch The Rider and The Seagull. They both have their final screenings on Thursday, June 28th!
 See you at the movies!
