Greetings, Cinemapolitans!

My apologies for this arriving so late in your inbox. Our email provider GetResponse.com was struck by a debilitating denial-of-service attack. After days of effort, they got us back up and delivered.

Another busy week at the Mop is coming up:
  • Finding Vivian Maier finally arrives on our screens. This award winning doc tries to crack the mystery of the titular French nanny who was secretly a master of street photographer.

  • The classic American revenge tale Blue Ruin was a hit at Sundance for writer/director Jeremy Saulnier. Indiewire calls it "easily the most suspenseful American film of the year." It arrives for a limited engagement on Friday.

  • Our friends from The Readers Theatre of Ithaca will be back in Theater 1 Friday - Sunday with a special LIVE reading of Detroit

Also coming this week, the second of two NY Film Critic Series advance screenings. We've partnered with NYFCS to present, live, interactive, pre-release movies and big screen HD simulcast with the stars and filmmakers.

The Next Event is on Tuesday, May 6th at 7:30 and features “Chef” with a simulcast appearance by writer/director/actor Jon Favreau. The film just took the audience award at the Tribeca Film Fest. See it before it arrives in theaters! Tickets now on sale!

Sadly, this new stuff means we need to make room by saying goodbye to The Lunchbox. It ends on Thursday, May 1!

See you at the movies!
