Greetings, Cinemapolitans!

Our films keep ticking up the awards season wins - at last weekend's SAG Awards, Theory of Everything, Birdman, Boyhood, Whiplash, and Still Alice took home the big prizes.
This Friday, we add another award winner:
  • The National Board of Review named A Most Violent Year the best film of the year and gave acting prizes to both Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain. The two play a husband and wife struggling to keep their business and their family out of the world of gangsters in 1980s New York. Todd McCarthy of the Hollywood Reporter calls it "A tough-minded, bracingly blunt look at the sometimes debilitating cost of doing business that casts an unblinking eye on the physical, emotional and moral bottom line."

And, as fans get to work on their Oscar pools and the days tick away before Hollywood's biggest  night, it's time to make plans for our own annual event! On Sunday, February 22nd, we once again present our And the Winner Is... Fundraising Gala. It's a  special evening featuring fine food from Ithaca’s favorite restaurants; beer, wine, and signature champagne cocktails; and chances for cinephiles to take home prizes of their own with silent auctions and “guess the winners” contests.  Of course, the big awards telecast will be on the big screens, as well. The party runs right through the announcement of the best picture prize!
Only 200 tickets will be sold, so GET YOURS TODAY.

See you at the movies!
