Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
Looking for some post-Turkey Day activities? We have TWO new openers arriving on Friday for you:
  • Actor Paul Dano makes his directorial debut with the pastoral tale of estrangement, Wildlife. Based on the novel by Richard Ford, the film stars Academy Award nominees Jake Gyllenhaal and Cary Mulligan as parents in 1960s Montana whose relationship is disintegrating. Framed through the eyes of their 14 year-old son (a breakout performance from Ed Oxenbould), David Edelstein of New York Magazine says it is, simply, "a superb film."

  • Selected by Sweden as their national entry for the Oscars, Ali Abbasi's Border is an unforgettable contemporary fairytale. It follows Tina, an odd-looking customs officer with the unique ability to smell the emotions of those crossing the border. When she discovers a mysterious and similar-looking man who eludes her talent, her world is turned upside down. Revealing any more would spoil the richly crafted fantasy that borrows as much from Nordic folklore as it does from noir and romance. Jordan Ruimy of the Playlist calls it "a surprisingly humanist and artful story of love for the diminished and dismissed outsiders of the world."
While you plan your next week at the movies, get in soon to catch The Old Man & The Gun and Suspiria. They have their final screenings on Thanksgiving day, THIS Thursday, November 22nd!
 See you at the movies!
