Greetings Cinemapolitans!

We head towards autumn this Friday with TWO new limited engagements joining our slate of late-summer hits:
  • Winner of multiple awards at this year's Sundance Film Festival, Morris from America puts a new spin on a classic fish-out-of-water/coming-of-age story. Following up his recent dramatic turn on TV's Mr. Robot, Craig Robinson stars as the father of the titular Morris (breakout young star Markees Christmas) as they navigate culture clashes in their transplanted home of Heidelberg, Germany. It's a New York Times Critic's Pick, with A.O. Scott calling it "a pop confection with a rough, honest texture, real but not raw and suffused with an infectious sweetness that lingers after the final shot."

  • The creative duo behind the Academy Award nominated A Cat In Paris have returned with Phantom Boy, another beautifully rendered hand-drawn animated feature. The film follows Leo, a young boy who discovers he can leave his physical body and uses his newfound powers to fight crime in New York City. Charles Solomon of the LA Times calls it "a modest, engaging film that reminds viewers of the intimate pleasures of drawn animation in an era of CG blockbusters."
Looking ahead to next Thursday, the season of National Theatre Live encores continues with the Tony nominated revival of Arthur Miller’s A View from The Bridge. Featuring an award winning cast led by Mark Strong and direction by visionary Ivo van Hove, this production of Miller’s classic confrontation of the American dream has been called “magnetic, electrifying, and astonishingly bold.” A View from a Bridge returns to Cinemapolis for two screenings: Thursday, September 15th at 6:30 pm and again on Saturday, September 17th at 1:30 pm.
Remember, our two new films are LIMITED ENGAGEMENTS, so see them while you can!

 See you at the movies!
