Greetings, Cinemapolitans!

July presses onward and we welcome one new opener this Friday to join our slate of popular films:
  • Master documentarian Errol Morris (Fog of War, The Unknown Known) turns his probing interview technique toward a fellow artist in The B-Side. Chronicling the work of photographer Elsa Dorfman, the film delves into her remarkable archive of large-format Polaroids and into the remarkable life that led her to adopt the portraits as the hallmark of her style. Andrew Barker of Variety says it's a "a gentle-hearted gem, as profoundly subtle as it is subtly profound."

Some events are on the horizon in the next week, but before we get to the weekend, don't forget about THIS Thursday's special screening:

Sonia Friedman Productions present Imelda Staunton, Conleth Hill, Luke Treadaway, and Imogen Poots in James Macdonald’s critically acclaimed, 5 star production of Edward Albee’s landmark play, broadcast live to cinemas from the Harold Pinter Theatre, London.

Fresh from the big fundraising premiere event, this local documentary returns for two special screenings.

The feature chronicles one remarkable woman’s struggle with early-onset Alzheimer’s, diagnosed at the young age of 52, and how her loving family and community rallied to support her in the face of her insidious disease.

To celebrate Shark Week, the Museum of the Earth presents a screening of the 1975 classic JAWS. The screening is held in conjunction with their current exhibit: The Buzz Saw Sharks of Long Ago.

An introduction to the film will be presented by Cornell professor and shark expert Willy Bemis: “Jaws and Shark Science”.
 See you at the movies!
