We swing through the holiday week and into a new weekend with one new opener joining our popular slate of films this Friday: |
| - Indie auteur Ana Lily Amirpour follows up her striking debut (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night) with the big, brash, hallucinogenic, cannibalistic, dystopian sci-fi romp, The Bad Batch. Combining equal parts lush visuals, sly humor, and vengeful violence, fans of Ithaca Fantastik will eat this one up (pun fully intended). Amirpour puts genre tropes in a blender and produces a gritty morsel of social commentary. A.O. Scott of the NY Times says "It's good, dirty fun. But it also takes exploitation - of bodies, of feeling, of labor - seriously."

In conjunction with the new exhibit, The Best Way to Prepare Bananas, exhibition curator Matt Conway will introduce this special screening of Pecker, director John Waters’s loving, knowing satire of an outsider in the art world.
The movie will be preceded by rare “Dinny the Dinosaur” videos by Robert Goodnough from the Museum’s collection not included in the exhibition.
