Greetings Cinemapolitans!

It may only be Tuesday, but it's not too early to think about the weekend, when we'll be adding TWO new films to our screens:
  • French auteur François Ozon (Swimming Pool) returns to our screens with the delicate anti-war drama Frantz. Set in the aftermath of "the Great War," this mystery unfolds as a German woman grieving the death of her fiancé befriends a French soldier she meets at the site of her lover's grave. Stephen Holden of the NY Times gives it the Critic's Choice stamp of approval for taking on the "unsettling question...Can carefully constructed lies heal the emotional wounds of war?"

  • Also this week, we open a debut feature from another French filmmaker, Julie Ducournau. Raw is being hailed as part of the new "golden age of genre films"—and for good reason. It may not be for the faint of heart (or stomach), but those willing to give this horror/coming-of-age tale a taste will be rewarded with what Catherine Bray of Variety calls "a deliciously fevered stew of nightmare fuel that hangs together with a breezily confident sense of superior craft."
Also don't forget that National Theatre Live returns to our screens THIS Thursday:

Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson stars in the title role of Patrick Marber’s new version of Hedda Gabler. Hedda and Tesman have just returned from their honeymoon and the relationship is already in trouble.

Trapped but determined, Hedda tries to control those around her, only to see her own world unravel. Tony Award-winning director Ivo van Hove returns to National Theatre Live screens with a modern production of Ibsen’s masterpiece. Hedda Gabler screens at Cinemapolis on Thursday, April 13th at 6:30 pm and again on Saturday, April 15th at 1:30 pm.
While you're planning your next week at the movies, get in soon to catch Personal Shopper and Song to SongThey both play their last shows THIS Thursday, April 13th.
 See you at the movies!
