Greetings Cinemapolitans!

It's our favorite time of year, when all of our films have been nominated for Oscars. We add one more contender to the mix this week:
  • Like most films by Charlie Kaufman, Anomalisa kind of defies description. It's just your typical, run-of-the-mill  stop-motion animated feature with adult situations about existential angst and human longing. It's also the first R-rated film to ever receive an Oscar nomination for best animated feature. David Rooney of the Hollywood Reporter calls it "a wonderfully odd consideration of those questions about love, pain, solitude and human connection we all ask; its emotional power creeps out from under the subtle humor and leaves a subcutaneous imprint that lingers long after the movie is over."  Be sure to take in this unique cinematic experience.
Also this weekend, we kick off our second year of the Family Classics Picture Show with a special screening of The Wizard of Oz on Sunday, January 24th at 2 pm. The series introduces the magic of cinema to parents and kids with a year-long series of 10 fun and affordable Sunday matinees.

Discounted tickets for these special Sunday events are just $3 for adults, $2 for kids, or $10 for an entire family. The Family Classics Picture Show at Cinemapolis is made possible by lead sponsor Wells Fargo Advisors, with additional support from Mama Goose.
While you're planning your next week at the movies, be sure to get in to see Trumbo soon. It leaves THIS Thursday, January 21st!
 See you at the movies!
