Greetings, Cinemapolitans,

As construction progresses on the new parking above us, please keep a close eye on temporary changes to the detours downtown. The assembly of a construction crane this week will temporarily re-route traffic to our entrance, but fear not! We will remain open and operating for the duration of the project.

Be sure to check our website and Facebook page for up to the minute recommendations on the best places to park to make your visit to the cinema as convenient as possible.

We have TWO new additions to our in theater slate this weekend, so you'll want to get in before then to catch Ailey, Flag Day, Ma Belle, My Beauty, and The Year of the Everlasting Storm. They have their final screenings on Thursday, September 16th!

ITHACA FANTASTIK PRESENTS:

THE SUMMER OF SLEAZE

Seven Summer Saturday Nights featuring
Repertory Titles from the Vaults!

80 min, R

KING OF NEW YORK, BAD LIEUTENANT, DRILLER KILLER, THE ADDICTION — all indelible classics from Abel Ferrara, whom we proudly call one of America’s greatest and most unique living filmmakers.

One of Ferrara’s earliest jams, MS. 45 knocked the DEATH WISH-ripoff subgenre off its axis with a novel spin: its avenging gun-packer is beautiful, young, mute, female and cleaning up the streets. Thana (a haunting Zoë Tamerlis) is a diligent garment worker who’s had the ultimate bad day as she’s assaulted not once, but twice in visceral fashion. Shocked to her core, her nights become consumed by seductive prowls through the city — resulting in male pigs winding up on the wrong end of a bullet.

Tamerlis offers a compelling silent performance that eerily echoes Catherine Deneuve in REPULSION, while Ferrara displays an amazing command of the medium on very limited means. Eerie, fiery, unforgettable.
