The 25th Annual Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival continues into week 2! In addition to another set of virtual cinema features from around the globe, we'll also be welcoming some local filmmakers into the cinema for a very special in-person event.


On Saturday, April 2nd at 2 pm, join members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, filmmakers Deborah Hoard and Ry Ferro, and Laura Branca from the Dorothy Cotton Institute for an afternoon celebrating Civil Rights legend and Ithacan, Dorothy Cotton. In addition to live performances, the event will feature a screening of the short film, There’s Your Ready Girl, along with some sneak peeks at the work in progress feature documentary, Move When The Spirit Says Move – The Life & Legacy of Dorothy F. Cotton.

 

Meanwhile, it's another premiere weekend, so you should get in soon to catch Compartment No. 6, Cyrano, and You Are Not My Mother. They have their final screenings on Thursday, March 31st!

Featuring an original new song written and performed by Mel Brooks, THE AUTOMAT tells the 100-year story of the iconic restaurant chain Horn & Hardart, the inspiration for Starbucks, where generations of Americans ate and drank coffee together at communal tables. From the perspective of former customers entertainer Mel Brooks, Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Secretary of State Colin Powell, the Horns, the Hardarts, and key employees – we watch a business climb to its peak success and then grapple with fast food in a forever changed America.

Set in an isolated mountain village in 19th century Macedonia, You Won't Be Alone follows a young girl who is kidnapped and then transformed into a witch by an ancient spirit. Curious about life as a human, the young witch accidentally kills a peasant in the nearby village and then takes her victim’s shape to live life in her skin. Her curiosity ignited, she continues to wield this horrific power in order to understand what it means to be human.

Don't forget to keep an eye on our website to get the latest info on detours to get to the cinema. During the current phase of construction, the Green Street Crosswalk has once again closed. All patrons should enter the cinema from the North using either the Home Dairy Alley from the Commons, or the detour scaffolding from City Hall along Harold’s Square.


Access from the South through the Green Street Crosswalk will be blocked as work on the parking garage is completed.
