Identity can’t be defined by what you do. It’s the other way around:
what you do flows out of who you are. Identity causes behavior; behavior
does not cause identity.
If identity were defined by what we do, we would be doomed to live in
a perpetual shifting definition. Today I act with love. I’m a loving
person. My identity is love. Tomorrow I act with bitter rage. I’m a
hateful person. My identity is hate.
