Subject: Free resources for April's character focus

This month's character focus is Contentment: "Realizing that God has provided everything I need for my present happiness"

This month, our character focus is Contentment. The operational definition of contentment is “realizing that God has provided everything I need for my present happiness.”

Contentment does not come naturally! It is learned as a Christian repeatedly turns his focus to the Lord whenever he feels discontent. Contentment comes from the security of knowing that one’s greatest need (forgiveness) has already been provided by Jesus, Who never leaves him. Assured that he belongs to Jesus, the believer has everything he needs.

When a person is thankful and happy, whether he has little or much, then he is content. Lasting contentment is found only when God is the source of someone’s life, joy, peace, identity, and purpose.

Each booklet in the comprehensive children’s curriculum contains four complete lessons. A lesson is comprised of a Bible story and questions, a memory verse, and a craft or activity. The character quality is reinforced with a corresponding hymn history and sheet music, an overview of the character quality, and suggested resources for further study. Through this study, children are taught that the secret to contentment is to have a close relationship with God and appreciate all that He gives. Children will be directed to see that the most prized possession is Christ Himself.
