Come Celebrate Floyd County's
Agricultural Heritage This Saturday

The annual Floyd Livestock and County Fair will take place at Chantilly Farm this coming Saturday, September 8 from 10am until 7pm.

The one day event focuses on celebrating Floyd County's rich agricultural heritage with a wide variety of family-friendly activities.

The fair is presented by the Floyd County Farm Bureau Womens Committee, County of Floyd, Virginia Cooperative Extension and Chantilly Farm. This year's theme is Farming: Past, Present and Future.

"The investment over the years from businesses and organizations in our community is what has sustained this event and we're very much looking forward to future growth," said Dee Wallace, fair board member.

Activities will include horseback riding, inflatables, carnival style games ran by local non-profits, agricultural demonstrations, touch-a-truck area, a petting zoo, livestock competitions, community exhibits, contests and more. Local vendors will feature a variety of arts, crafts and unique wares.

Our indoor barn facility will host exhibits provided by community members that include photography, quilts, canned goods, fresh produce and more. Those wishing to enter exhibits should do so by Thursday, September 7. Simply bring your entry to the venue by 7pm that evening.

A variety of local food vendors will be on-site throughout the event and include Bootleg BBQ, Wanderlust Sammiches, Hillbilly Goodies, Taylor Farms Fried Pies, Longfin Grill, Homestead Creamery and Snack Time. Cake walks, another fun aspect of a traditional county fair, will take place at scheduled times throughout the day.

Live performances on the main stage this year include: Back Porch Cloggers (11am), Floyd Music School Students (12:30pm), CocoBolo (2pm) and Between the Dots featuring Bernie Coveney (3:30pm).

New this year, the conclusion of the event will feature a 'Cowboy Campout' beginning at 7pm on the hilltop of the venue. Participants will enjoy homemade cornbread and chili, smores and campfire storytelling. Bring an instrument if you would like to showcase your musical talents. All that is needed to participate in this portion of the festivities is to make a camping reservation with Chantilly Farm and let them know you'll be joining the 'Cowboy Campout'.

Admission is $5 and kids 12 and under are admitted free. For detailed information and a full schedule of events, visit
