Subject: Film Shot in Floyd to Debut This Weekend

'Geographically Desirable' to Debut at Chantilly Farm This Saturday

Geographically Desirable, a romantic comedy partially filmed in Floyd during the fall of 2013, will be presented to the public for the first time at a free event on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Chantilly Farm in Floyd.

"After months in post-production, we're finally able to reveal the finished film to our friends here in Floyd before submitting it to film festivals and potential distributors. Those familiar with the Floyd area will definitely see a lot of scenes and people that they recognize, so we hope everyone will come out and enjoy the evening", commented Jason Gallimore, a Floyd native and one of the film's producers.

The film was written and directed by Mike Kravinsky of Nextnik Films in Arlington, VA.

"In terms of towns with a genuine capacity for filmmaking--Floyd has it all. We couldn't have chosen a more friendly and welcoming place to shoot this film," said Kravinsky.

The film's plot is centered around the lead character, Nicole, who works as a high-powered Washington, DC news producer. Nicole gets unexpected news when she finds that her Uncle Eddie has suddenly died. While attending the funeral in the small mountain town that he called home, Nicole discovers that she has inherited both his house and his dog, neither being a responsibility that she wants. Nicole decides to keep Charlie the dog, but opts to sell the house. In the process of putting the newly inherited house on the market, Nicole becomes fond of the quirky mountain town and the people she meets there, and begins to fall in love with one man in particular. What will become of Nicole and her new found relationships? Will her career-driven mindset send her back to the city?

The event will begin with an opportunity to meet with select members of the cast and crew at 7:30pm. The film will begin at sunset.

There will be no charge for admission and attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating. No pets will be allowed at the event.

Bootleg BBQ of Floyd and the Floyd Country Store will be vending on-site throughout the evening. Popcorn and cotton candy will also be available for purchase.

The film will be shown on a large outdoor screen provided by Starshine Events in Blacksburg. Some may remember that a similar event was held last summer upon the completion of 'House of Good and Evil', a psychological thriller written and produced by Blu DeGolyer, that was also filmed in the Floyd area.

The film contains mild romantic scenes and some adult language. Parental discretion is advised for those 13 and under.

Chantilly Farm is located at 2697 Franklin Pike in Floyd. A rain date has been set for Sunday, June 8. For directions to the venue, please visit .
