Seventh Annual Bluegrass Festival This Weekend

Grammy award winning progressive bluegrass artists, The Steeldrivers, will headline the Chantilly Farm Bluegrass & BBQ Festival, being held this weekend at Chantilly Farm in Floyd on May 26-28.

The band has developed an internationally following with accomplishments that include being one of the most downloaded band's in the bluegrass genre and playing to sold-out crowds all over the country.

The band's current lead singer, Gary Nichols, has taken a break from touring to battle an un-expected health issue. Adam Wakefield, the runner-up for last season's hit TV show 'The Voice' will be filling in on vocals.

The annual event serves as the home festival for Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice, a Virginia based bluegrass band that has been widely acclaimed in recent years winning multiple awards. Sisk and his band began a partnership with Chantilly Farm in 2013. Since then, the special events venue and campground has served as an official touring sponsor of the group.

The festival is celebrating its seventh year and has also expanded its musical lineup into a third day for the first time. Full days of music are planned for both Friday and Saturday, while Sunday will feature an afternoon of bluegrass-gospel music. Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice will perform both Friday and Saturday, and will be joined by award-winning bluegrass favorites like Larry Sparks & the Lonesome Ramblers, Band of Ruhks, The Grascals, Lonesome River Band, Big Country Bluegrass and Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers.

RV camping for the festival is sold out, but tent camping remains available.

Numerous food vendors will be on site throughout the weekend.

Additional activities include a corn-hole tournament, hiking trails, kite flying, children's activities, face-painting on Saturday, arts and crafts vendors and more. Plenty of jamming opportunities are available for attendees, as well.

While alcohol is not sold at the festival, coolers are welcome. Guests are asked to be discreet and responsible at all times.

No pets are allowed in the festival area.

Parking is $3 daily and benefits Plenty!

Advance tickets are available until May 25 at www.chantillyfarm.com and tickets will be available at the gate on all days. Kids 12 and under are free. Tickets can also be purchased locally prior to the festival at Floyd Country Store, Wildwood Farms General Store and Blue Ridge Institute at Ferrum College.
