TOUR DE DIRT COMING TO CHANTILLY FARM THIS WEEKEND Tour de Dirt will make its second annual return to Chantilly Farm on Saturday, November 4th. Organized by Paul Sullivan of Floyd and part of the Virginia Endurance Series, the event draws mountain bikers from a multi-state region for a day of biking along the beautiful back-roads of Floyd County, VA.
"One of the great things about beginning and ending the ride at Chantilly Farm is that the venue provides the opportunity for participants to bring their RV's or tents and camp for the weekend," says Sullivan.
A brand new course has been set out for 2017 and features riding on mostly dirt roads allowing riders the opportunity to see parts of the region that many other visitors to the area never get the chance to see.
The course will head South from Chantilly Farm and circumnavigate Buffalo Mountain for the the 100K+ full course.
Shorter distance rides are also available for all skill levels and include the following: Medio ride is 50+ miles, Lite Route is 35 miles, Fun Ride is 12 miles.
A meeting of all riders will begin at 8:30am near the Country Store area of the main events field at Chantilly Farm. After the meeting, riders will all leave the farm in a large group. The following link will give you a rough idea of this year's course: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/24066630
There will be a few aid stations on the course but come prepared for the ride that you plan to do. Like all Virginia Endurance Series events, this is a free event and all are welcome to participate. There will be a donation bucket to help fund the Aid Stations, which will have some basic food and water.
We encourage riders to reserve a campsite at Chantilly Farm, our host for the event and be sure to bring some cash to eat at Bootleg BBQ when we return to the farm.
Reservations for camping can be made through the Chantilly Farm website at www.chantillyfarm.com or by calling (540)745-2322.
