| Thank you to all those that joined us for our virtual remembrance ceremonies. They were a powerful reminder of the strength of our unity, through the most profound sense of pain. Below are the recordings for anyone that didn't make it to the live events or would like to watch again. | On October 6th, Nonviolence International led us in honoring every life lost to the ongoing violence and the enduring struggles of the Palestinian people. Moderated by Sami Awad, the gathering served as a space for mourning and healing and emphasized a unified call for justice. Israeli journalist Amira Haas and Gazan journalist Ahmed Alnaouq shared powerful insights through personal narratives and called for action and deeper solidarity. We were honored to hear songs from Rawan Roshni, a Palestinian/Balkan activist and artist based in Jordan. | | On October 7th, we united in grief and hope as we remembered and decried the violent Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, the taking of the hostages, and the onset of war. The event was led by the Parents Circle-Families Forum and the American Friends of Parents Circle-Families Forum, moderated by Shiri Ourian. Speakers Bassam Aramin and Anat Marnin shared personal stories of loved ones killed by "the other" and how these painful losses led them to work for understanding and peace. We also heard from Ma'ayan Inon, a bereaved Israeli daughter, who offered insights on loss and healing. | | On October 8th, Combatants for Peace hosted the final gathering, moderated by Miriam Turmalin and Mai Shahin, to mourn the profound violence and injustice in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Israel, while calling for collective liberation. We were honored by Gazan poet and artist, Hannen Sabbah, who read her poem, "Dark Night of the Soul." We were also strengthened by music from Hannen and Israeli singer Noam Enbar. As we lit candles in remembrance of all lives lost, we honored CfP's Palestinian Freedom School Coordinator, Fatima, whose mother was tragically killed in Gaza right before the event. Speakers Souli Khatib and Chen Alon closed our time by sharing their experiences of deep partnership and joint struggle for a just peace and collective liberation. | | Thank you to all those that have supported us and shared your messages of solidarity throughout these dark months. We will continue to work together toward a better future and keep talking and listening to each other, despite the pain we share.
Thank you, Combatants for Peace |
