Dear friends of Combatants for Peace

Let us wish you first of all a Happy New Year.

Thank you to everyone who made 2019 a success ! We invite you to check out our year-end summary and projects report. We promise you will be inspired. Given the appalling political situation we have no choice but to keep on mobilizing our energy and resources to promote the peace we believe in. We are excited that a new Israeli co-Executive Director has joined us to dynamize and strengthen our movement. Today, the first of four Speaking tours planned for the first semester of 2020 kicks off in California (January 26 - February 12). We are confident that this year will be fruitful again.

Appointment

Yonatan Gher, 41, has joined our movement about one week ago as new Israeli co-Executive Director. We are thrilled to be able to welcome such a dynamic and experimented professional among us. Yonatan previously served as Director of Amnesty International - Israel, Executive Director of the Jerusalem Open House for Pride and Tolerance and Executive Director of Greenpeace Mediterranean. Yonatan lives in Jaffa with his partner and two children. As Israeli co-Executive Director of the Combatants for Peace he succeeds Uri Benassa who held the position during the past five years, leading the movement trough challenging and complex days to significantly expand it. In his new function Yonatan will manage the organization jointly with Palestinian co-Executive Director Mohamed Owedah. (photo: Omer Messinger)
Activities
In spite of the cold and sometimes heavy rains which inundate the roads in this winter season activities got started this year with a performance and a follow-up discussion set up by the Theater group of the Combatants for Peace on January 4, 2020 in Beit Jala.

On January 17, the members of the binational Steering Committee of Combatants for Peace met for a reflection day on organizational development and planning of activities.

The next event planned on the agenda is a Solidarity action in Kfar Malik (West Bank) to take place in February.
