| This week, Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, declared, “The West Bank is the heart of Israel, and we will protect it with every means necessary.” Alongside Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, he toured the occupied West Bank in a show of military strength and oppressive supremacy. This is our shared reality today - an Israeli government led by far-right radicals determined to destroy any hope for peace, and societies divided to the point of dehumanization and despair. At least, that is what they want us to believe. In the face of this provocation, and amid the ongoing devastation in Gaza, we are here to say: the Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Ceremony will take place this year. We will not bow to those who seek to silence us. Every year, this ceremony stands as a beacon of hope, proving that even in the darkest times, we can come together in solidarity.
