Vote YES for HB-1598 Parental and Family Counseling Rights Protection Act!
Dear Friends,
Today at 10:30 CST, the Oklahoma Children, Family, and Youth Services Committee will hear HB 1598, the "Parental and Family Counseling Rights Protection
Act." HB 1598 protects Oklahoma mental health providers, including faith-based
counselors, who offer counseling, psychotherapy, and/or spiritual
direction to minors who seek to reduce or eliminate unwanted homosexual
feelings and/or gender identity confusion.
BUT GAY ACTIVISTS ARE DESPERATELY TRYING TO STOP THIS LANDMARK BILL FROM GOING FORWARD!
Yesterday, gay activists stormed the capitol and began threatening and bullying Rep. Sally Kern, the bill's sponsor. Gay activist Troy Stevenson, who formerly headed Garden State Equality in New Jersey was at the center of this bullying, telling the news media awful lies about therapy to help children and families with unwanted same-sex attractions. In 2013, we documented the lies of Troy Stevenson and Garden State Equality when he proclaimed that many "conversion therapy torture camps" exist all all over the United States. Because of these lies, the bill in New Jersey passed through the legislature and became law!
HB 1598 is a big step for parental rights and religious liberty for
Oklahoma families, especially those who struggle with sexual and gender
identity confusion. This bill protects the freedom of individuals to
seek help from mental health providers and faith-based counselors for
support, spiritual direction, and pastoral care and counseling.
Oklahoma Children and their families should be provided with ethical,
safe, and effective support to overcome conflicts surrounding their
sexual identity/orientation and their spirituality, especially confused
victims of childhood sexual abuse!
HB 1598 ensures that children who are molested and/or are victims of
sexual abuse and experience unwanted same-sex attractions as a result,
have the freedom to get the counseling that aligns with their values!
We urge you to vote YES for this important legislation so that children
and families can continue to pursue their own self-determination and
exercise their constitutionally protected rights! This landmark
legislation − the first of its kind in the nation − will send a clear
message that in Oklahoma, parents have the ultimate right to make
decisions for their children's and family's mental, emotional, and
spiritual health.
