| Banned Books Week 2014: Celebrate the Freedom to Read by Donating an IHF Book
September 21-27 is Banned Books week. You might be asking yourself
about now – what is Banned Books Week? Banned Books Week is an annual
event celebrating the freedom to read. It is held during the last week of
September and highlights the value of free and open access to information.
Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community in shared support
of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider
unorthodox or unpopular. Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in
response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools,
bookstores and libraries. According to the American Library Association, more
than 11,300 books have been challenged since 198
IHF is
joining with other organizations across the country this week to fight this
kind of censorship. We fight back by offering books and materials that help
those with unwanted same sex attraction (SSA). You can help us with our quest. We
are placing a special emphasis during this years “Banned Books Week” to give
IHF books and CD’s free of charge to public libraries and public schools across the USA, since books on healing homosexuality are often banned by public schools.
