Subject: Prisoners of the perfect prisoner

"Those of you who know our company history might remember that shortly after we were married, Mark and I spent a year in jail for participating in rescues at abortion clinics (sit-ins). Jails in America are certainly not the Gulag--you get three hots and a cot, and most of the time your basic civil rights are protected, but still it is a deprivation. You are away from friends and loved ones, you are not free to come and go as you wish, the food is limited and lousy.

This time of quarantine has reminded me of all this. Most of us are in our homes, surrounded by our usual comforts. We have food (and hopefully toilet paper), but we can't really come and go as we wish, we are isolated from our friends and families. So we very much feel a deprivation. And this reminded me of something else.
While we were in jail, we received a newsletter called Prisoners of the Perfect Prisoner. It was created by men who had experienced conversion while incarcerated and developed a devotion to Christ in the Eucharist--specifically Christ hidden in all the tabernacles of the world. Christ as prisoner. Admittedly, His prison is generally ornate and golden and the door is opened daily for a brief time, but still, 23 hours of isolation. It is a deprivation."
"So in this time of quarantine, let's try to unite our isolation, our captivity, with Christ's, our deprivation with His.
Prisoners of the Perfect Prisoner."

St. Bernardine of Siena came up with the "IHS" monogram in the 15th century, and spread cards with the image on it. During the plague, he encouraged people to put it on, or over their doors, spreading devotion to the Holy Name, and inspiring the people to trust and rely upon God in their time of crisis..."And they found this healing name a remedy against the plague, causing it to cease" (from a sermon of St. Leonard of Port Maurice).

We are offering multiple different options (simple, ornate, latin, and english)
for people to hang these on their doors.
