Saints of April, pray for us!

April is here, a time of renewal and joy, for both the church and the world around us. From rejoicing in the gladness of the Easter season, to enjoying the beginning of spring, there is much to be grateful for this month!

St. Catherine of Siena was a mystic and doctor of the church. Her feast day is the 29th. She was a sister of the Dominican Order, and spent most of her life attending to the poor and sick. She is a co-patron of Italy with St. Francis of Assisi.

St. Louis de Montfort's feast day is the 28th. He was a French priest who dedicated himself to mission work, encouraging devotion to the rosary and veneration of the holy angels.

St. Gianna Mola's feast day is the 28th. She was a pediatrician, and mother of four children. She passed away after suffering complications in her fourth pregnancy, instructing her family to save the baby instead of her. She is a patron of doctors, mothers, and unborn children.

 St. George's feast day is the 23rd. Born in Rome in the early 3rd century, St. George was secretly baptized and raised Christian by his mother. He later became an officer of the Roman army. He, along with many other Christian soldiers, was persecuted for his faith, and was venerated as a martyr by early Christians.
