Subject: Events to Warm Your Winter 🌟

Winter events programme

We have some significant events planned for the remainder of the year. Including a series of in-person events at Hebden Bridge Town Hall and an exciting iteration of EcoHome Lab looking at the latest research on heat pumps and radiator controls.

Take advantage of these events and others that we will be hosting before Christmas, and register today.

Retrofit workshops in Hebden Bridge!

We are working with Hebden Royd Town Council to help the residents of Hebden get more informed and empowered to save energy and make their homes more comfortable and healthy. We are running a series of in-depth practical workshops, find information and booking links below:

Heartwarming Homes is here!

Heartwarming Homes, a brand new FREE toolkit to support you in engaging with residents about energy efficiency upgrades has launched.

It’s been developed in partnership with Northern Housing Consortium, Placeshapers and Tpas and with input from social housing residents and housing colleagues. It builds on work by the Northern Housing Consortium’s (NHC) Social Housing Tenants’ Climate Jury and Placeshapers and Tpas research, ‘Residents’ Voices in Net Zero Journey’.

Using research from the Behaviour Change Network, it will help you to work with residents to overcome barriers to having energy efficiency work done. It includes practical advice and provides a range of resources, including template letters, videos, a step-by-step communication process and a language style guide.

Exploring Consumer Needs for Retrofit Lending

ABCUL, Carbon Coop, Loco Home, Metro Moneywise, and People Powered Retrofit have collaborated on the Green Homes Finance Accelerator pilot: Credit Union Finance - A Place Based One-Stop-Shop for Retrofit.

We carried out research with members of Credit Unions and retrofit One-Stop Shops to discover the ways that homeowners are currently financing retrofit work, as well as their attitudes towards borrowing for retrofit.

EcoHome Lab: Heat Pumps & Radiator controls latest research

This session will be a deep dive into radiator controls for heat pump installs.

  • Damon Hart-Davis - will go through his latest research, revealing that TRVs in heat pump systems reduce heat demand but also can increase energy usage. Damon was the founder of the OpenTRV project and has recently published his TRVmodel constructed to match the Heat Geek example setup.

  • Dom McCann - will be reporting back on his experimentation with Radfans to increase the efficiency of his heat pump. Dom has been monitoring and evaluating his energy usage in detail for over a decade; he also co-authored a paper on the retrofit performance gap, using Carbon Co-op's 'Community Green Deal' programme as an example.

Now, in our regular monthly slot - every second Thursday of the month

(November 9, 6:00-7:30). A hangout for people taking control of their home energy usage and generation. We use open-source hardware and software to gain a better understanding of energy in our homes, how to make the best use of the energy we generate and reduce energy wasted.
