New energy systems project and citizens' jury updates! ⚖️

Hi Friend,

There has been a huge range of activity across many of Carbon Co-op's projects this month and there are some exciting events coming up. Earlier this month the GMLEM citizen's jury debated a number of scenarios for Greater Manchester's energy transition - join our event to hear their findings.

We have announced a new project to develop an Open Source Energy Efficiency methodology grounding our activities in real data and demonstrating the true impacts of retrofit works. With this we have a couple of new software development roles to join our Energy Systems team.

We hope to see you at one of the many events coming up!

GMLEM Citizens' Jury update

We held our GMLEM citizens’ jury for six in-person sessions between 26 April and 5 May at Friends’ Meeting House in Manchester city centre.

Thank you to all of our jury members for taking part and shout out to Carly and Rachel who were fantastic facilitators! We will be unveiling the jury’s findings on Zoom at 6pm on Monday, 27th June. This session will bring together jury members, GM Local Energy Market (GMLEM) partners and key stakeholders to hear the jury’s findings and discuss the next steps for what the GMLEM looks like in terms of governance and ownership decisions.

This event is open to the public, so please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested.

New Open Energy Efficiency Savings project

As long term advocates of open approaches, we're pleased to announce our new project Open Energy Efficiency Savings (OpenEnEffs) to develop the CalTRACK open-source methodology, using smart meter data to evidence actual, avoided energy from energy efficiency interventions.

Manchester Histories Festival 2022

Running from Wednesday 8th - Saturday 12th June, Manchester Histories Festival takes a look at the history of climate change in the context of Greater Manchester. Exploring our past so that we can begin to understand what is going on in our world today.

There is a huge programme of events taking place in person and online at a number of venues across the region. Take a look at the full programme now.

Powershaper Flex project update

We are preparing for the next phase of PowerShaper Flex testing events which will begin in the Autumn. Our Home Energy Management system is linking with solar generation in participants home to make their energy visible, as well as EV chargers, immersion tanks, and battery storage to help stabilise the electricity grid, so that it can better respond to peaks and troughs in demand and production allowing for a greener grid.

New installations are underway, so welcome to all new 'flex providers'!
