Hi Friend,
You may already be aware that I'm a freelance writer amongst other things. I love the work, especially when I get to tell the stories of people like the incredibly inspiring woman I interviewed today.
There hadn't been a playground in her little Wisconsin town for over 20 years. Many of the residents live below the poverty level and don't have the resources to drive the 7 miles to the nearest play area. There was nowhere for families with young children to go to relax outside. It has seriously impacted the morale of the community - and its economics, too, since no one with kids wants to live where there's no place for them to play.
No one thought they could do it, but she and her sister in law orchestrated over 130 sponsors and dozens of volunteers to donate the time, money and materials for a playground. They did all the organizing to get the thing done: excavation, equipment, basketball court, sidewalk, the whole shebang. (The photo above shows some of the dozens of volunteers on the project pouring concrete for the basketball court.)
"It's going to be a wonderful thing for people to get together and socialize in a way that’s healthy, not just playing on the street," she told me. "This is huge for our community. It's a dream come true!"
The final work party is this Friday, and the ribbon cutting is scheduled for early June. Just shows what a couple of dedicated women can do when they set their minds to it!
I wanted to share this story with you for a couple of reasons.
First, it's an awesome and inspiring tale.
But also, what these two women managed to accomplish - starting with absolutely nothing - is a perfect example of the 3 secrets to manifesting abundance that I mentioned a couple of weeks back: - To have desire or passion for something. These two women REALLY wanted the playground to happen.
- To FOCUS your will on that thing. Keep in mind that both women have families and work full time. But during the year or so it took them to raise the funds, they focused pretty much all their spare time, thoughts and energy on that ONE goal.
- To take concrete ACTION in the direction of achieving your desire. "We really went gung ho," she told me. They organized bake sales. They did rummage sales. They wrote grants. They held a 5K benefit walk. They stepped out of their comfort zone and asked companies to donate.
And I'd like to add one more thing: they had faith that the support would be there for them when they asked for it.
What is your greatest hope, dream, desire? Do you believe you can achieve it?
I do.
I've been experiencing some major shifts in a lot of ways since starting some deep work with Archangel Michael earlier this year. In celebration and gratitude I'm being guided to share a series of Abundance energy clearings openly with everyone. No charge. Let's all thrive together!
The next one takes place tomorrow, May 12, at 10 am Eastern time. You don't even have to sign up. Just show up if you feel inspired! Details below.
Love & blessings,
