Hi Friend,
The leaves have finally popped here in the U.P. of Michigan! It's lovely to walk in the green again.
Lovely, too, is the wonder of observing all the myriad creatures that have spent the long winter hidden away under the earth and who are now venturing out for another season of activity and abundance.
Ants, for instance.
To me, ants represent:
- Strength. Did you know that the neck joint of an ant can support over 5,000 times its body weight?
- Teamwork & industry. One of my coolest memories from when I was in Costa Rica many years ago was watching a caravan of leafcutter ants trekking through the rain forest. They were a model of efficiency and teamwork!
- Determination and patience. Have you ever seen a bunch of ants moving a large object like a dead caterpillar many times their size? They will spend hours dragging it bit by bit towards their nest, then dismantling it to take inside. We often think of ants as being scattered, but they actually can show amazing focus.
Whenever I have a lot of work to do - especially non-creative, organizational type work that I don't find particularly inspiring, like housework or accounting, I call upon Ant. Putting myself in Ant mode really does give me the strength to forge ahead and just get it done!
